A Perfect Fit Is Never an Accident

A Perfect Fit Is Never an Accident

One of the biggest misconceptions in the apparel industry is that a good fit happens naturally.

It does not.

A perfect fit is the result of countless decisions made throughout the development process. It begins with the pattern, continues through sample development and fitting sessions, and is refined through corrections, testing, and production experience.

During my 40 years in the garment industry, I have seen many people focus only on the final garment. They see a well-fitting product and assume it was created that way from the beginning.

The reality is very different.

Behind every successful garment are multiple rounds of fitting, pattern corrections, sewing adjustments, and technical discussions.

A perfect fit is never an accident.

It is the result of experience, observation, and continuous improvement.

In this article, I would like to share why fit development is one of the most important processes in garment manufacturing and why every correction matters.
